Quick Tip: Searching LinkedIN anonymously

Whether you know it or not, when you look at someone else's LinkedIn profile, that person receives a notification that you have viewed it.

Most of the time, that probably isn't an issue.  There may, however, be times when you'd prefer  that the person not know it is you.  For example, if you are scouting out people in a company you'd like to work for or looking at the profile of an ex-lover, you might not want them to know.

NOTE:  CHECK OUT OUR FREE WEBINARS ON LINKEDIN AND OTHER CAREER TOPICS-- ON THIS WEB PAGE.

The good news is that you can control what information they receive about you.  Here's how:

1) Go to your name on the top right of your LinkedIn page.  There is a drop down menu there.  Click on settings.
2) Scroll down to privacy settings
3) Click on "Select what others see when you've viewed their profile"
4) Notice you have three options—show your name and headline, show only your industry and geographic location, or be totally anonymous.

While you are operating anonymously, you will not receive information about who has viewed your profile.
